Ahhhhh! The Tea Pots!

I was once told that building a tea pot required all the skills a potter would ever need. Of course, I had to have a go. I didn't start until a few years ago when I had got my own workshop together and could spend all the time I needed. Here's a chronological walk through.....

My first attempt. Delta stoneware, thrown initially. The ultra-shiny glaze was not a good choice. It did pour!

Number 3. Getting happier now. This was thrown upside-down and a slab base was rolled and stuck on. The lid was cut from what was the base of the pot, and handle and spout attached before I got going with the detail. (The holes round the lid don't go right through)

Number 5. Arctic white was not the right choice for this; it cracked round the base in the kiln but I glazed it anyway. It was immediately snaffled by my daughter-in-law and sits on her dresser.
After these I thought, 'What the hell.....As long as it holds tea, its a tea pot...

My second attempt. I had bought the bamboo handle ages ago. We use this one.

Number 4. Constructed the same way as No.3 with a fit of glazing madness.

.....and this little dear is my favourite. Thrown as a gourd shape and turned on it's side I bashed it a bit to flatten the base and the gourd neck became the spout. Good old galaxy glaze again, and YES....they are buttons! This is number 6.
